The world's largest golf facility, featuring a collection of world-class courses designed by Brian Curley and Lee Schmidt, set against a stunning volcanic landscape.
Mission Hills Haikou is a spectacular golf destination located on the tropical island of Hainan. Recognized as the world's largest golf facility, it features ten 18-hole championship courses designed by the renowned team of Schmidt-Curley. The courses are built upon a bed of ancient lava rock, creating a dramatic and unique setting for golf. Below are details on three of its premier courses:
Patterned after the famous courses of the Australian Sandbelt, this course features large bunkers with high sand flashes and crisp edges. It is characterized by wide fairways and large, undulating greens that require a creative short game. Native grasses surround the holes, giving it a distinct rugged look.
Based on traditional US Open courses of the eastern United States, Meadow Links features geometric shapes in both bunkering and fairway lines. Distinctive features like 'Church Pew' bunkers create a unique look, while grass-faced bunkers and native grasses give the course an open meadow feel.
A tribute to Pete Dye designs, the Stone Quarry course showcases wild-ride features like railroad tie sleepers, abrupt mounds, and long sandy waste bunkers. The course snakes through ancient volcanic quarries supported by steep rock walls, demanding shot-making over brute strength.
