Cameron Young, born in Scarborough, New York, was introduced to golf by his father, David Young, the longtime head professional at Sleepy Hollow Country Club. He enjoyed a successful junior and amateur career, highlighted by winning the AJGA Polo Golf Junior Classic in 2014 and representing the United States in both the Junior Ryder Cup and the Junior Golf World Cup.

Young played collegiate golf at Wake Forest University beginning in 2015, where he won multiple collegiate events before turning professional in 2019. His rise through the professional ranks was swift. In 2021, he won twice on the Korn Ferry Tour, earning his PGA Tour card for the 2021–22 season.
